Eagle Awards Gala

Announcing our 2018 Eagle Awards Spring Gala.

Yes, exciting changes are afoot at Housing Colorado in 2018. The staff and board are thrilled to share with members that the Eagle Awards celebration, traditionally held at the conference, will be given its own signature status as an awards dinner to be held in April. As our industry has grown, so have the incredible accomplishments our affordable housing community – and by hosting this event as a stand-alone dinner in the spring, more members and supporters of our outstanding nominees will be able to participate. This event will inspire you as we honor the leaders and visionaries in our Colorado affordable housing community.

The History.

Established in 1990, the Eagle Awards has come to represent one of the highest achievements within the Colorado housing community. These prestigious awards celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments and outstanding leadership in housing and support services. The awards honor the individuals and collaborative projects that soar to new heights in their work to ensure safe, decent, affordable housing for all Coloradans. The awards were historically a part of the NOW! Conference, but in 2018, the organization made the decision to establish a stand-alone gala, celebrating and heightening awareness around these awards.

Nomination and Selection Process.

Nominations for our 2018 Eagle Awards has closed. As you reflect on 2017, are there amazing people, programs and projects that motivate and encourage you to soar to new heights?  There is an Eagle Awards Committee that plans and prepares the nominee information, as well as selects the winners. Nominees and award winners must be built in or serve the Colorado market. Construction projects must be completed to be eligible. See above link to view 2018 nominees.

The Awards.

People, Projects, and Programs
Eagle awards honor the individuals, agencies, projects, and programs that soar to new heights in their work to ensure safe, decent, affordable housing for all Coloradans.

People's Choice Award
The People's Choice Award was created in 1999 as an opportunity for the affordable housing community to evaluate cutting-edge work in the affordable housing field. The housing community will be able to cast their vote for the most deserving of the People's Choice Award from this year's Eagle Award nominees.

Herlinger Award
The Herlinger Award is presented by the Housing Colorado Board of Directors on rare occasions to honor life-time achievements in housing. Recipients are retired housing leaders recognized across Colorado and nationally for their contributions to the field. Named after Dave Herlinger, the former Executive Director of CHFA, the Herlinger Award was established in 2001. The Herlinger has only been awarded on those special occasions when an individual’s impact warrants this special recognition. In addition to Dave Herlinger, Tom Hart, Mark Gallegos, Karen Harkin and Jack Quinn have received Herlinger Awards.
